gerund

A gerund is the -ing form of a verb...
used as a noun.
Examples : talking, playing, swimming.
A gerund is used in the same ways as a noun, i.e., as a subject or an object.
An infinitive consists of to + the simple form of a verb.
Examples : to talk, to play, to swim.

USING GERUNDS AS THE OBJECTS OF PREPOSITIONS
 (a). We talked about going to Canada for our vacation.
 (b). Sue is incharge of organizing the meeting.
 (c). I am interested in learning more about your work.
 (d). I am accustomed to sleeping with the window open.
 (e). I am used to sleeping with the window open.
 (f). I look forward to going home next week.
 (g). They object to changing their plans at this late date.

Exercise 1 : Supply an appropriate preposition and verb form.
